“Game Changer – Zero Waste and Box Re-Use”

Many U.S. based corporations along with their global counterparts over the last five to seven years have put programs in place to reduce waste and increase re-use of materials while striving to meet rigorous zero waste business goals.

Corporations with global supply chain footprints are constantly seeking opportunities to better integrate their operations across facilities, distribution centers and geographical regions. Box Latch™ Products offer an innovative low technology solution to address contemporary sustainability issues associated with waste management, supply chain sustainability, and lean manufacturing and employee health/safety. Each of these can generate production and operational cost savings.

Box Latch™ Products are a Re-Usable alternative to tape, staples and bands that have traditionally been used to close cardboard boxes.

FACT: “90% of corrugated boxes are used just once and then recycled or go to a landfill.”

Since only 10% of corrugated boxes are used more than once. This means that there are a lot of opportunities for the patented Box Latch™ Products to ‘disrupt’ the marketplace and provide corporations, people with expanded opportunities to re-use their boxes! Re-using materials is one of the easiest ways to reduce your organizations footprint and save your team money!

Looking to the future…..what type of role will your business play in shaping our future?
In 2015, countries around the world adopted the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Last year the Paris Agreement on climate change went into effect. Businesses, government and individuals from around the world are now being asked to take steps to address the rise of global temperatures.

One small step that we can each take to help meet SDG # 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production is to “do more and better with less.” Remembering back to grade school, we all learned about the power of the 3 R’s (i.e. first we should focus on reduction, than figure out ways to re-use items and lastly recycle/repurpose the item at the end of their natural life.) With the increased awareness and focus on zero waste management and material re-use the time has come for us to implement a culture of re-use within our organizations.
